Rose, Bob, Joe, Mike & Chris welcomed Bryan Thomas to their family on February 18, 1992. The Palmer family was now complete. The four Palmer boys grew up playing all kinds of “ball” together in the backyard. Bryan played in-house and travel baseball and soccer for White Marsh Recreation Council and proudly wore the #8.

Although Bryan seemed quiet,
he made lots of friends through sports and in
school.

Bryan attended Joppa View
Elementary School and the
sixth grade at Perry Hall
Middle School

5th Annual Bull and Oyster Roast

A big thank you goes to our supporters.  You come out every year to support us and we greatly appreciate it.  Without your help we would not be able to do the things that we do (see our "Giving Back" page).  Rich and Duggy from "A Perfect Beat DJs" did a great job as always entertaining us.

The slide show created by Joe Palmer was very touching.  The Plant/Prize/Alcohol and Money Wheels were packed all night.  This was our best year ever for the raffles.  With your continued support we were able to raise over $8,000.00.

LaToya Jackson from the Center for Infant and Child Loss were there to support us and to accept our annual donation.

Also thank you to Mark and Marylou Miller, all our volunteers on the wheels and raffles and sponsors.

4th Annual Bull and Oyster Roast

Once again the bull roast was a big success.  It was great having Bryan's friends join us this year.  Their indoor soccer team - "Rock on #8" presented Bob and Rose with their winning season (8-0) trophy.  We gave our annual donation to the Center for Infant & Child Loss.  Chris Palmer was the winner of the 40" flat screen TV.  A Perfect Beat DJs did a fantastic job entertaining us all night long.  The slide show created by Joe Palmer and Justin Huesman was very touching.  The Plant/Prize/Alcohol and Money Wheels were packed all night and the raffles were a huge hit.

And a big huge thank you to Mark and Marylou Miller, all our volunteers and sponsors.  With you continued support we were able to raise over $11,500.00.

Our raffle was a big success.  We had 11 days with winning raffle tickets and 11 days with no matching numbers.  On June 1st, Rose and the Millers drew the tickets for the remaining baskets.  We would like to thank everyone for their support.  Whether you sold or bought tickets your support is greatly appreciated.

3rd Annual Bull and Oyster Roast

Let me start by saying "Thank You" to everyone who made this year's Bull and Oyster Roast a huge success.  Without your continued support we could not have had a successful event.  Mark and Mary Lou Miller - thank you for all the hard work you did with the ticket sales, to Barb and Ron Harris, Suzanne and Ali Taylor and the rest of the crew for covering the raffles all night long and to all the volunteers on the wheels (especially Kim and Susan).  With your help we were able to raise over $11,500.  Rich and Duggy from 'A Perfect Beat DJs" did an outstanding job (as usual).  LaToya, Jean and Alice from the Center for Infant and Child Loss were there to support us and to accept our annual donation.

2nd Annual Bull and Oyster Roast

We are pleased to announce that the 2nd Annual Bull and Oyster Roast was a huge success.  There was a great turnout and, with over 300 in attendance and with the support of local businesses and individuals, we were able to raise a net profit of $10,735.
Rich and Duggy from "A Perfect Beat DJs" did a fantastic job entertaining us.  The slide show created by Joe Palmer, Bryan’s oldest brother, gave us an opportunity to view and share our memories of Bryan.  The Plant/Prize/Alcohol and Money Wheels were packed all night and the raffles were a huge hit.
The Bryan Thomas Palmer Memorial Fund would like to thank everyone who attended the event and helped to make this event a success.  We would like to send a special thank you to Mark Miller for handling our ticket sales, Barb Harris for running the raffles all night and to our event sponsors.

Donation to the Bryan Thomas Palmer Memorial Fund

This past March Bob and Rose accepted a check from Justin, one of Bryan's soccer teammates.  Justin donated his referee pay for the week of February 18th (Byran's birthday week) to the TBTPMF.

This gesture leaves us speechless!! Thank you Justin!!

1st Annual Bull and Oyster Roast

We are pleased to announce that the 1st Annual Bull and Oyster Roast was a huge success.  There was a tremendous turnout and, thanks to the more than 440 in attendance and the additional support of local businesses and individual contributors, we were able to raise just under $14,000.
Everyone was entertained by the featured band, Unprecedented, and by the slide show created by Bryan’s oldest brother, Joe.  The food was outstanding and plentiful and R&B DJ’s did a great job all evening as they played enjoyable music and made many important announcements.  The Plant/Prize/Alcohol and Money Wheels were packed and the raffles were a huge hit as well.
The Bryan Thomas Palmer Memorial Fund would like to thank everyone whose support contributed to the success of this event.  We would like to send a special thank you to Mark Miller for handling our ticket sales and to all of our event sponsors.
In closing, we would like to share with you a letter written by Bryan’s grandmother, Marion Taylor.  We think this says it all:

Marion Taylor’s Letter to the Palmer Family
Dear Rosemarie, Bob, Joe, Mike, Chris and Bryan,
  Last night was overwhelming to say the least.  All I can think of to say is that last night God took Bryan by the hand, gathered up all his 'heavenly' family and friends and said;
"Bryan tonight we're all going to a Bull and Oyster Roast, I want to show you how Blessed you are, for while you were on earth those 12 and 1/2 years I gave you the most wonderful Mom and Dad and the 3 most priceless and special brothers.  Along with them I also gave you all these people, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends who along with your Mom, Dad and brothers, love you and continue to love you with all their hearts.   They are here to let you know that you are not forgotten nor will you ever be forgotten.   Because of who you are, your loving heart and your very short time on earth, you have touched each of them in some way whether big or small.  Now each of them sees life in a different way.   Because of your gentle and peaceful heart, each have become better people in my eyes.   Tonight your family and friends are attempting to show, in this tribute to honor you, the essence of what your life on earth was all about and they've done a great job.
On February 18th, 1992, you began the journey that I set out for you and all the challenges that came with it.  On August 2nd, 2004 your journey was over, your challenges were all met and conquered.  Your work on earth was complete.  It was then that I took you back home with Me to live in Paradise for all eternity.
Then God smiled ever so softly and said, "Bryan, You Done Good".
At that moment, Bryan smiled that beautiful smile and let out that unforgettable giggle and said, "Thanks go to You, God".
  To that I say, "Amen".
They were all there with us last night.  No one can deny that.  God's presence was definitely evident in the overflowing of love that poured out all evening.  Once again, in Bryan's words, Thanks go to you God.
God Bless all of you.
I love you.
Mom (Grandmom)

"You gotta have fun"
(The 1st Annual "You gotta have fun" Night 2007)

The first Annual "You gotta have fun" night was held on June 15th, 2007 at the Joppa View Elementry School.  Using Bryan's motto, "you gotta have fun" as their theme over sixty friends, cousins and team mates came together to listen to Bryan's band, UNPRECEDENTED, (formed five years ago by Bryan, two of his brothers and three of his cousins) and do some things that Bryan considered "fun."  The teens played basketball, boardgames, munched on some refreshments, listened to great music and shared stories with others who knew Bryan.
A good time was had by all!

Dedication Ceremony
(Renaming Nottingham Park Field #1 to Bryan Palmer Field 2007)

Family and friends gathered at Nottingham Park to celebrate the life of Bryan Palmer.   The White Marsh Recreation Council arranged to have a garden erected and a baseball diamond dedicated to Bryan.  One of the diamonds has been renamed field #8 and is marked with a plaque bearing Bryan's picture and his slogan "you gotta have fun".
Robert Barrett, Director of the Dept of Rec. and Parks, started the dedication with a welcome greeting and then Father Hammond, From St. Isaac Jogues, blessed the field and garden.  Bryan's grandmother, Marion Taylor, Bryan's friend and teammate, Zackary Miller and his parents, delivered some personal remarks to the gathering and Senator Kathy Klausmeier issued a citation from the state of Maryland to Bryan's parents recognizing the dedication.
Bryan's friends and teammates unveiled the plaque and his brother Joe threw out the first pitch to his brother Chris.  It was the perfect way to conclude the ceremony.
It warms our hearts to know that there is such great love for Bryan in the community.  We would like to thank everyone who was involved in making this dedication happen, especially everyone at White Marsh Recreation Council for all their love and support.
